When I first moved to Dallas, a friend of mine living there found it odd that I wore jean shorts (jorts). I'm not up on style, and I'm usually okay with looking like a total slob, but when I opened my eyes and took a look around Texas, I could not find one jort-wearing dude among the millions there. Except of course for the exceptionally creepy looking grad students who wore their prescription sunglasses indoors and at 27 were still sporting the "16-year-old-line-stache." Not wanting to look like some one who'd been scolded by Stone Phillips on a "very special episode of Dateline", I gave up the jorts. In fact I couldn't even look at my jorts anymore. They became alien, and weird. Unnatural. God did not intend for male-worn denim to stop at the knee.
And now I'm back in Oz. And every other dude and their mother is wearing jorts. In fact I went to Old Navy the other day to get a new pair of jeans and a nice pair of shorts for my trip to Mexico in a few days (NOT jorts!), and there was an entire rack... of nothing... but jorts. But even now, surrounded by jorts... they still look weird. Just can't do it anymore. No more jorts.
In other news: the apartment is pretty much unpacked. Great view of one of the campus buildings. I biked the hills today, and nearly threw up. Yeah, that brings back undergrad memories of wheezing all the way up the hill.
Can't wait to get to Juarez and see la Ardilla and her family. It's too quiet up here.

I find this totally amusing! But I am happy you left the whole "jorts" fashion booboo behind for good!
"jorts" are still worn here, my former boyfriend wears them all the time... and not just ones colored blue denim either. He's got some crazy almost camo ones too.
Have a nice trip to Mexico!
Okay, okay, I fess up, it was me who criticized the "jorts." But you still should wear them!
If it makes you feel any better my "ex" (or whatever he is now) still wears JORTS and at times I wonder if he could get away with wearing them in the public school system with the policy of "shorts can not be any shorter than one dollar bill from the knee"... :)
Not ALL jorts are bad... just the daisy-duke ones on guys! :)
no! NO you should not! lol...
miss you.
update!
